Our History

How we became Richmond, Virginia’s leading certified mold removal contractors

MoldX owner Chuck Sardelis founded his Richmond-based company in 2002 as a way to fulfill two of his dreams: owning his own business and helping other people. After a childhood spent in and out of hospitals with serious respiratory ailments, he wanted to spare others the same misery by helping them improve their indoor air quality.


Chuck spent years in the home improvement industry before turning his attention specifically to indoor air quality. When one of his customers explained the link between mold in the home and respiratory problems, Chuck began to do research of his own, quickly realizing how he could use his skills to help his customers breathe healthier air.
